As we approach the last days of school, I want to take this opportunity of thank everyone for your complete support of the students and staff here at St. Catherine.  I am pleased to say we are finishing out the school year on a strong note. 

As we walk with Jesus during this holiest week of the year, let us never forget His great love for us by dying on the cross.  May we unite our hearts with His during this Holy Week and prayerfully partake in the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.  May you and your family experience much joy and manifold blessings on Easter Sunday!  Easter vacation begins at 11:30am this Thursday for the children.  School resumes on Monday, May 2nd.

Happy March to all of you!  Spring is just around the corner.  As we reflect on the meaning of Lent, let us never forget that “Jesus did this for you and for me”.  His faithful love for us brought him to death on the cross.  How are we responding to his call for action during these Lenten days? 

We are need of student belt donations.  Could you please donate gently-used navy, black or brown belts of all sizes?  Please send your donations to the school office.  THANK YOU!

Spring has teased us all this week!  The weather has been absolutely beautiful all week long with the sun shining and the temperatures up in the mid-30’s.

Just a reminder to please make sure you come in and register for the 2011-2012 school year.  We have open registration the 1st through the 20th of each month.  I am a firm believer that you parents are the true ‘marketers’ of our school.  You are our word of mouth in the community and especially in your neighborhood.  Please think about a family you know that could use a little encouragement to join our St. Catherine family in the fall.  

We are pleased to share the following news with you: the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Accreditation (WRISA) is pleased to announce the accreditation of St. Catherine School, which has proved compliance with WRISA educational Standards and is a member in good standing.  “We applaud the accomplishments of the St. Catherine School community and its commitment to ongoing school improvement and high standards of excellence,” remarked Beatrice Weiland, WRISA’s executive director.

I can’t believe how quickly this year is flying by!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break, full of family and friends and relaxation.  The next several weeks tend to be frenzied and hectic, and my hope is that we will help our children slow down and enjoy every minute.  We so appreciate the support and camaraderie we experience with our parent community.  Without you, our students could not be successful.  I am particularly thankful for each teacher and dedicated staff member in this school.  Every day they choose to be here with integrity, enthusiasm, and professionalism.

I would hope that this Thanksgiving we might all pause to do more than say thanks, but instead be the grateful selves that can fuel and inform a new way of being in our lives. Practice telling those who make your life better, thank you. And pause to look about to thank the larger world for the constant changes that poke and nudge us to pay attention to lives that slip by too fast. Sit in the moments of your days and appreciate them. Pluck out the weeds, and discover the wonder of it all. And say thanks.

Welcome to autumn!  There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are turning so many assorted beautiful colors and days are becoming shorter and shorter.

When I am walking around the school observing the teachers with their students, I am reminded that the teachers have chosen to work in a Catholic School because they believe in the ministry of the church.  It is the vocation they have chosen.  These educators not only receive less pay than public school teachers, they also put in extra effort to nurture and embrace the spirit of each child.  I truly believe that every member of our faculty and staff give selflessly of themselves to the school and our students.
